AUG 10 – FILM AND MUSIC: L’INFERNO

Sunday, August 10 at 8:30 pm
Appalachian Chamber Music Festival
Italian silent film “L’Inferno” (Dante’s Inferno, 1911), with reimagined original film accompaniment for violin and double bass by ACMF’s own Domenic Salerni!
Witness a unique intersection of cinematic history and contemporary music! Italy’s first feature film, “L’Inferno”, based on Dante’s Inferno by Giuseppe de Liguoro came to life in 1911. 99 years later, in 2010, our very own ACMF artist Domenic Salerni composed and premiered his original accompaniment to the film at the Yale Dante Symposium with Sam Suggs. We’re so lucky to have both of these special musicians at ACMF to perform this work.
General admission (unreserved seating).
The historic Shepherdstown Opera House is cozy vaudeville era theater that seats 100 — we encourage patrons to purchase tickets in advance. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. Popcorn, candy, soft drinks, beer & wine available for purchase (no outside food or drinks please). Lobby, theater & restroom are wheelchair accessible.
This event is produced by Appalachian Chamber Music Festival —please contact ACMF directly for ticket purchase and all inquiries.
