One of our most popular bands is back!
Local favorite X of the Potomac is an Americana and alt-country music group from Shepherdstown, WV. Led by Than & Mary Anne Hitt, the group writes and plays original Americana roots rock and covers (e.g., Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, Wilco, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley).
The story behind their name: During the Civil War, the Union Army, called the ‘Army of the Potomac,” occupied our area some of the time. Says the band: “We are all Gen X’ers, and we occupy this area now, so we are ‘X of the Potomac.'”
